The article is from June last year, when JDO was still moving.

David Jordan used to be Ericsson's representative at the ODMG.
Later he was Ericsson's representative in the JDO JSP.
You can still find his name here:
http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/jsr/jsr_012_dataobj.html

David is also still a member of the ODMG as a Java editor.

Of course Dr. Marlboro talks good about cigarettes.

I have been mailing with Constantine Plotnikov from Novosoft lately, who is
also part of the JDO JSP.
It seems that the work is still continuing but very slowly.

Constantine was quite frusted that some of his ideas could not be realized
and tried to find a way to propose them to C# for .NET.

I only see a chance for JDO if Oracle starts pushing.
I don't assume that this will happen, since SQL is still running too well.

A paradigm change can only hurt Oracle.
I hope we can ally object database vendors for a paradigm change in a near
future.

I have been mailing with quite a few other vendors and I see a possibility
for an ODBMS trade organization in the near future.
One point has to be clear:
Object databases are not Java *only*, what the ODMG is trying to suggest.

Carl
