Ozone on JDK1.3: any benchmarks?

I have been using JDK1.3 on NT the last week and have found its
perforamce to be much better than prior JVM's,
and its reliability to be better than expected.

Has anyone done any performance comparisons of Ozone
on JDK1.3 vs. earlier JDK's yet?

I am curious because, at least theoretically, the non-graphical
portions of Java could ultimately approach the speed of C++
where the feature set is the same( ie: garbage collection,
security services,  dynamic class loading, etc.)
