PDOM is a necessity...

As you know, I have been investigating both
the theory and practice of this for a while now.

It appears that a fast implementation of
a query engine will store a transformed
and compiled version of both the query
and the Document. Ultimately some
variation of "magic-sets" transformation
will be required. Also, caching of nodes.

GMD-IPSI has a good PDOM and caching
implementation.

So far, *no one* has done magic-set
transformations on XPath or XQL.

For now, I'm going to settle for alot less
speed however and just get something working.

Now you know why top quality DB engines
cost so much money.
