1) Yes, nowadays you have to overload server with client's homework, but
... have ever try to do all those jobs (servlet/RMI querying a DB for
obtainig an XML file to which make a XQL-query and use the result for
applying an XSL styleshhet to produce HTML page to be sent to the client
(not speaking of producing something more "professional" like PDF, PS,
DVI, ...) ? Have you ever try it with a drama play (nor just with the
typical agenda-record example ??

2) For the time being you'll see a new generation of XML-browsers
bloooming. I don't think market is gonig towards thin-clients (I don't
know any, at least you need a JAVA-VM+Swing+CORBA_Stub+...+Office
2000!!!), but rather towards what I call slim-clients (thin enough,
strong enough).

3) For those devices you mentioned, YES you are right. we can not have
(at lest in a short period of time) a slim client. But I think the best
solution for them is a kind of technology like Sun's JINI or IBM's
TuplaSpaces, PLUS XML. In fact, they two are trying to marry their
technologies with XML.

Thanks for the interesting discussion.

Pedro.
